Read how these doctors respond to questions about plantar faciitis, balance problems and low back pain, as well as how a practitioner finds them invaluable in her practice and personal life.
Q. I have been diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis. Even though traditional treatments have helped for a while, I am still in pain. I have also tried several brands of shoes and supports, but they only worked briefly. What do you recommend I do next?
A. I have suffered from Plantar Fasciitis myself and I know how painful and hard to resolve it can be. The answer to your problem is not simple, but I have found a systematic approach to be reliable and effective for both my patients and myself. The control and isolation of movement of the feet are the keys to the cure. This can be achieved by combining the Alternative Care Group system of corrective arch supports, the right shoe for your foot type and lifestyle, with some simple physical therapies. Dr. Dean Kenny

Q. I am having problems with my balance and it is getting worse. I have even taken a couple of bad falls. So far, my doctors have found no medical reason for my poor balance. Can you offer any helpful suggestions?
A. This is a more common problem than most people may realize and should be taken seriously. In many cases, poor balance begins with improper alignment of your feet and body. I often perform biomechanical balance tests with my patients to determine if there is a problem. My diagnosis and treatment plans are influenced by these tests. A solid support system of the feet, and a properly aligned body aids in restoring your balance and should reduce your chances of falls. Dr. Ricky Sides

Q. Can the pain in my low back begin with my feet, even when I have no foot pain?
A. I find this can be true in many cases. That is why we take so much time and give detailed attention to our patient intake process. Most patients are not aware that each of their feet has four arches. These arches can collapse over time and cause extreme strain on the joints, tendons and ligaments. The muscle groups of the body try to compensate, but this usually leads to misalignment of the skeletal system. If this misalignment is not corrected, permanent damage can occur to your joints, discs in the back, and other parts of the body. The pain you are feeling is your body's way of telling you to get help. One of the methods we sometimes incorporate is the use of corrective arch support systems. When used as directed. these unique supports aid in maintaining your treatments and reducing your recovery time. Dr. Jonathan Locke

______________
I have been most impressed with the dedication, professionalism and commitment to excellence exhibited by James Guarino of the Alternative Care Group. James is committed to providing the best body support system that offers a revolutionary approach to both foot support and care of the body overall. His products improve posture, balance, comfort and stability, and if more widely used, could prevent many unnecessary medical procedures, dangerous falls, and general deterioration of the joints.
I send many of my patients to James for help they can receive no where else. I hear comments from them like, " I feel taller and stronger." "My hammer toes are gone." "I used to walk down the stairs clutching the rail, and now I can walk with confidence!" "My knees feel much better."
I use inserts from the Alternative Care Group myself everyday even though I have no perceived foot problems. Practically anyone who walks can benefit from his expertise, and save themselves a lot of pain and medical expense.
